Pokemon Rumble Blast: It’s a Game About Toys About a Game.
The word "meta," or at least the modern, popular use of it, seems to be the best word to describe Pokemon Rumble Blast for the Nintendo 3DS. It takes Pokemon, the game series that spawned tons of cartoons, cards, toys, and other things, makes up a new Pokemon toy line based on the series, then makes a game based on the made-up toy line. From a storytelling perspective, it's the Pokemon Centipede. It's not bad, but its concept is very bizarre for a game that's basically Gauntlet with Pokemon.
NYCC 2011: Ash Tries Pokeball Proposal… It’s Super Effective
This is the nerdiest proposal I've ever seen, and I've seen some doozies. Married-on-the-bridge-of-the-Enterprise-in-Klingon-at-the-Star-Trek-Experience doozies. Cosplay flash mob at New York Comic-Con 2011 with a Marq Romero dressed as Ash giving his girlfriend an engagement ring in a Pokeball. I'm not tearing up, I'm just trying to use Bubble Beam.

Over 1 million Pokémon Black and White copies sold on U.S. launch day
Pokémon is a case study in not messing with a good thing. Nintendo has issued a victory lap press release about the first day at the U.S. market for Pokémon Black and White, which broke the series single-day sales record by selling 1.08 million copies in 24 hours. The previous bar was set by Pokémon Diamond and Pearl at 780,000. Black and White sold a reported 2.6 million copies in Japan in its first two days, and was the fastest game to reach 1 million preorders there. These figures put it among the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops, which sold 5.6 million copies worldwide in its first day. To be fair, however, Black and White are two separate titles, and it's likely a good number of folks are getting both.
Pokemon Black and White Review: Still Going Strong
Same game sequels take the series three steps forward. Some sequels take the series one step forward and two steps back. Pokemon is the only series that manages to take the series an inch forward and five steps sideways. Pokemon Black and White
are out now, and you can probably predict how good it is. Still, read our review anyway, for some insight into the next evolution of Pokemon.
Presidents and Pokemon at the Black and White Launch Event at Nintendo World
Nintendo held a big Pokemon Black and White
launch event at the Nintendo World Store at Rockefeller Center on Saturday, and there was much nerding to be had. The Presidents of the United States were there to play a song about the new Pokemon in the game (and, thankfully, to play Peaches and Lump, too), there were big, inflated Pokemon, an opportunity to buy the game a day early, and tons and tons of Pokemon fans. Read on for a full account of the event and tons of photos, taken by both myself and Chris Gampat of The Phoblographer.
Presidents Playing for Pokemon at Nintendo World Store Tomorrow
Well, this is random. Nintendo is holding a Pokemon Black and White launch event tomorrow at the Nintendo World Store at Rockefeller Center. The Presidents of the United States will be there. No, it's not 1996.
Seriously, what else do you need? Great (and strange) band. Pokemon. There should be t-shirts there. GO to Rockefeller Center at 3:00 tomorrow to catch the Prezzes with a new song and get your hands on some Pokemon.
Going to the country, gonna catch a lotta Pikas...

Phantasy Star: The Return?
Siliconera does this really cool thing where they look for trademarks filed by Japanese game companies. During a more recent search, they discovered two new Phantasy Star games in development: Phantasy Star: Eternal Planets and Phantasy Star: Eternal Hunters. Though I'm sure this is a Pokemon-ing of either of the online Phantasy Star series, I still wish that this was a revival of Phantasy Star proper. Seriously Sega! Where is Phantasy Star V?
