Mega Man Legends 3 Cancelled

Andriasang reports that highly anticipated 3DS title Mega Man Legends 3 has been cancelled. This come in spite of the numerous fan contests, promotions, and the planned demo/fund-raising pitch, Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype. According to a message posted on the game's official site, the game was cancelled due to not reaching certain conditions for continuing development, though fan speculation believes that the bigger cause was the desparture of Mega Man creator and Legends 3 project lead Keiji Inafune from Capcom some time ago.

This is quite a blow for the still floundering 3DS, as a number of people, myself included, were looking forward to the return of this franchise considering the second ended with a cliffhanger. It's worth noting that currently, Capcom officially has no Mega Man games in development, so unless Mega Man 11 (or Mega Man X-9) are announced, the franchise might very well be dead.

Top 5 Fan-Made Video Game Web Series

Video game movies suck. Video game television shows suck (except for that one Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon). Basically, if there's a script and acting and it's about video games, it's going to suck... unless the fans are making it. Video game fans have come up with some impressive web series based on their love for different franchises, ranging from anime mash-ups to parodies to epic, episodic dramas. Here are five of the best.

Mega Man Universe First Gameplay Trailer

Youtube user GrafWutzenstein has spliced together the gameplay trailers that were sent to IGN, 1UP, and GameSpot. The trailer showcases four of the multiple characters playable in game including MegaMan, RockMan (based on the Japanese boxart), a MegaMan based on the bad box art of the American version of the first game, and Ryu from Street Fighter. The game also includes Arthur from Ghosts and Goblins, though he is not in the trailer. Incidentally, the game looks very much like the stop motion trailer that was released previously. MegaMan Universe is coming out on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store.

MMO the MMO: Debut Mega Man Online Trailer Hits

The first trailer for Capcom and Neowiz's Korean Mega Man Online is available for viewing. There is no gameplay, but the animated short very heavily conveys the feel of the MegaMan X franchise, with the destroyed, post-apocalyptic feel of the world and the apparent plot of robots going maverick. MegaMan X fans will note a figure that resembles Colonel from the fourth X game; other characters seen in the trailer include Roll, Bass, and Protoman.

This is not the first time Neowiz has working with a publisher to make an online version of a game. They previously worked with EA/DICE to make Battlefield Online which is based on Battlefield 2.

I love the fact that they used DrillMan's theme and the background music.

Mega-Hi! Capcom reveals MegaMan Universe with a nostalgialicious trailer

I would be much obliged if someone would explain what this even means?

At first suspected to be the working title for a MegaMan MMOG, new details have revealed that Capcom's MegaMan Universe to be a downloadable title destined for PSN and XBLA. It is unknown what the gameplay style will be, nor whether the inclusions of non MegaMan characters such as Ryu and Arthur in the trailer have any significance. No further details are known at this time.
