TGS 2010: Yakuza of the End

Yakuza is one of those franchises I've always felt sorry for. It's like the series couldn't ever catch a break. The first game hit the US right in the middle of PlayStation 3 and Wii hype. The second was a PS2 game released in 2008, after the HD generation was in full swing already. And the latest game? Came out against Final Fantasy XIII. Of course, anyone who hadn't played it would assume that it was a Japanese GTA, not knowing they couldn't be further from the truth. Well, I'm just thankful that SEGA is still giving the franchise a fair chance at success.

Also, zombies. Check out a second video after the break.

APB is DOA. Looks Like PC Gamers Don’t Want MMO In Their GTA

Did you get to play APB? If you didn't, now you'll never get the chance. The official APB site reports that the servers will be shut down today. Ben 'APBMonkey' Bateman wrote:

APB has been a fantastic journey, but unfortunately that journey has come to a premature end. Today we are sad to announce that despite everyone's best efforts to keep the service running; APB is coming to a close. It's been a pleasure working on APB and with all its players. Together we were building an absolutely amazing game, and for that, we thank you. You guys are awesome!
From all of the Realtime World staff we thank you for your continued support.

It would seem yet another developer is closing their doors. APB launched June 29, meaning the game didn't even pass the 100-day mark. That has to be some kind of record. Even Tabula Rasa managed to last two years. The announcement was extremely sudden; the day before yesterday APB's site proudly proclaimed that the game would a new patch on the 16th.
