This is How Old You Are
You're going to be freaking depressed by this. You know the games you grew up with, the games you loved? They're old now. And since you remember playing them when they were new, you're even older than them. Final Fantasy 7 is getting ready for its Bar Mitzvah. Chrono Trigger just got its learner's permit. Golden Axe can go out drinking. And Pac-Man? Pac-Man can run for the Senate.
Read on for a list of some of the biggest games that are just reaching their various coming-of-age years.
Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy Japanese Release Shows a Hopeful Trend
Normally, we don't report on Japanese release dates here at Aggrogate, because, hey, we're not in Japan. That being said, it's worth noting the release of Dissidia 012[duodecim]:Final Fantasy because of one interesting fact. Siliconera reports that the sequel to the PSP only game will be launching Japan on March 3rd and will be coupled with a typical Japanese limited edition PSP; this particular one will come with images of Chaos and Cosmos on it, though no pictures have been released yet. What's most interesting about this is the price: the PSP game will cost 6,090¥ (~$72) in stores, but will only cost 4,980¥ (~$60) on PSN. To my knowledge, most games on PSP have parity for the retail and the digital release and, on occasion, the digital release lags behind the retail, though this occurrence has lessened since the PSN moved to Tuesday releases. As a fan of the digital revolution and a rare lover of the PSPgo, I find this wholly encouraging.
Resident Evil: Damnation trailer
Continuing with the horrifying movie news, we have a trailer for the next CGI movie in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil: Damnation. This film is a followup to Resident Evil: Degeneration and, unlike the blockbuster films starring Milla Jovovich, actually takes place in the games' continuity. This, however, does nothing to prevent them from being absolutely abysmal. And it does nothing to stop them from doing great sales numbers.

Duke is back to kick ass and chew bubblegum—in fact, it has been confirmed that the game is in production right now, and will actually come out in 2011. 1UP and EpicBattleAxe report that Gearbox Software is currently developing the game. and that a playable demo it is currently playable. Cheap Thrills: Master of Fortresses
Cheap Thrills is a column by Chris Gampat reviewing affordable (under $20) or free games for the recession.
If you're a fan of defense games, then chances are that you won't mind getting slightly Imperial on someone's ass when playing Master of Fortresses. Based around the imperial era, the game makes players defend their holdout against either the British, French and Germans, or play as those respective nations.
Cheap Thrills: Coma Is Like Limbo on Flash
Cheap Thrills is a column by Chris Gampat reviewing affordable (under $20) or free games for the recession.
Coma is a free flash game where the player must accomplish certain tasks to finally wake themselves out of a coma and escape the dreamworld. Remember that very-creepy-but-addicting-nontheless game called Limbo for XBLA? Well, Coma will remind players much of that game. Granted, there are differences—but the core gameplay is still quite similar and players will encounter similarly creepy events without the simplistic but brutal violence that players experienced in Limbo.
