Hands On: Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus (iPhone)
If you love FPS games on your iPhone, you may want to try Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus. As a game that promises multiplayer capabilities, a large variety of weapons and loads of shooting and killing, Modern Combat 2 really does seem to push the boundaries for what has so far evolved on the smartphone gaming platforms. I was able to get some hands-on time with the game recently at Gameloft's studios here in NYC, and though it didn't seem like the final version the game certainly didn't seem to disappoint at all.
Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem: Your Friendly Neighborhood iPhone Game
Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem, the latest game from Gameloft, throws us in the fast talking, web swinging, wall climbing booties of everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood web head. The iPhone action platformer has been getting a lot of buzz lately thanks to the recent release of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and it looks to be a lot of fun. Find out if Spidey and Apple work well together after the break.
Cheap Thrills: H.A.W.X 2 The 8-bit game
Cheap Thrills is a column by Chris Gampat reviewing affordable (under $20) or free games for the recession.
I remember playing the original version of H.A.W.X in alpha form back during my PCMag.com days and then the Android version put out by Gameloft. While I comfortably preferred the latter, the 8-bit version of the game is simply the most addicting. H.A.W.X. 2's 8-bit version is an ode to old-school top down shooters, with a few flourishes that test player strategies and reflexes while offering versatility in the way the game can be played.
Quick Review: Soul of Darkness is for dudes that hate Twilight
Haters of Twilight will be happy to know that you will get to go totally fubar on some real vampires in Gameloft's Soul of Darkness. Available for download from the DSi Store, the game is short but very fun and challenging, especially if you don't pay attention to certain details. The game is actually so fun, that I actually went right ahead and replayed it—which is rare for any downloadable game.
