Bulletstorm Demo: Duke Nukem is Doomed
by Will Greenwald

Download the Bulletstorm demo. Right now. While it downloads, I’ll explain to you why, after playing it, I now have a giant kill-boner for the game.

Bulletstorm is being developed by Polish developer People Can Fly, whose previous claim to fame was super-violent FPS Painkiller. Painkiller was loved as a cult hit because of its tons of blood, ridiculous weapons, and shameless sense of fun. Bulletstorm is being anticipated because of its tons of blood, ridiculous weapons, shameless sense of fun, and “skill shot” system that gives you bonus points based on how creative you kill people. The demo’s currently available on XBL and PSN, where you can try out that skill shot system yourself in a short, 5-minute firefight through a demolished building.

The Nintendo 3DS is Coming This March, and it Actually Works
by Will Greenwald

You know the deal by now. The Nintendo 3DS comes out March 27, and will retail for $249.99. There’s your Cliffs Notes for the Big Gaming News of the Day. However, I have a bigger revelation, that comes only after finally getting some hands-on time with the 3DS myself, at Nintendo’s big event yesterday morning.

The 3D works. It actually works pretty well.

After Reggie’s remarkably long announcement, the curtains parted and all the various tech journalists at the event were greeted with several dozen 3DS systems, woefully strapped securely to tables and counters but still freely available for us to try out. I missed my chance at E3 and CES, so this was the first time I actually got to handle the handheld.

Hands On: God of War: Ghost of Sparta
by Chris Gampat

Badass—if there is a word to describe the upcoming PSP bloodfest God of War: Ghost of Sparta, this is it. The game is so far perhaps one of the best handheld experiences I’ve had to date. God of War: Ghost of Sparta combines eye-pleasing graphics with a simple to learn interface intertwined with what promises to be a very entertaining storyline. Indeed, during my hands-on with the game earlier this month, it seemed to be something that perhaps every God of War fan may want to pick up.

Goldeneye 007: Split-Screen, Not Stirred
by Will Greenwald

Activision’s biggest display at New York Comic-Con was its Goldeneye 007 demo center, a pair of fake living rooms with couches and HDTVs inviting gamers to try out the game in all its 4-player glory. I played a round to see if the new game could recapture the magic of frantic 90′s console shooter gaming. No online play, no cover mechanics, no teabagging, just frantic shooting.

The game mode was Golden Gun. I didn’t recognize the level, but it seemed to be a shipping yard or a depot, with multiple levels and objects to hide behind. I was Bond, remodeled as Daniel Craig instead of the original Pierce Brosnan. I had a Classic Controller, the tethered Wii remote sitting on my lap as I played.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Yes, Deadpool Can Shoryuken (And Why This Is Awesome)
by Will Greenwald

Capcom held a pre-New York Comic-Con press event on Wednesday, where I got a chance to sit down with Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. I got a feel for the mechanics, got a good look at the graphics, and played with some of the new characters. More importantly, I confirmed the biggest question that’s been sitting in my mind since Deadpool was announced for the game: Will Deadpool be able to use a Shoryuken?

I can confirm yes, yes he can. It’s an awesome revelation. To find out exactly why it’s so great that Deadpool can throw Ryu’s signature move, read on for a bit of comic history and a more in-depth preview of the game.

Sonic Colors: Sonic Actually Has A Chance
by Will Greenwald

Sonic the Hedgehog has not had a very good decade. After spending the 90′s as one of the biggest figures in gaming, the blue blur has been unable to score a real hit since 1998′s Sonic Adventure. The series hit its nadir some time between 2006′s Sonic the Hedgehog (with creepy, cross-species overtones) and 2008′s Sonic Unleashed (with wholly unnecessary and nonsensical “werehog” sections). Next month, Sonic will give it one more try with Sonic Colors on the Wii. I sat down with Sega for a preview of Sonic Colors on Wednesday.

Hands On: Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus (iPhone)
by Will Greenwald

If you love FPS games on your iPhone, you may want to try Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus. As a game that promises multiplayer capabilities, a large variety of weapons and loads of shooting and killing, Modern Combat 2 really does seem to push the boundaries for what has so far evolved on the smartphone gaming platforms. I was able to get some hands-on time with the game recently at Gameloft’s studios here in NYC, and though it didn’t seem like the final version the game certainly didn’t seem to disappoint at all.

Tron Evolution Preview: Prince of Tron-sia
by Will Greenwald

Tron 2.0 was a surprisingly fun first-person shooter, but that was a good 7 years ago, and I wasn’t sure if Disney Interactive’s upcoming Tron Evolution would be remotely similar to it. I recently sat down for a preview of the game, which turns out to be less Tron 2.0 and more Prince of Persia.

In the eyes of both Tron Evolution and the upcoming movie Tron Legacy, Tron 2.0 never happened. Both the movie and the game take place after the original Tron, and the 2003 game doesn’t figure into the narrative. The developers likened it to DC Comics and Vertigo: similar, but different universes. I doubt many people were too invested in Tron 2.0′s story, so this isn’t exactly a big deal.

Tron Evolution itself is a third person action game that takes heavily from Ninja Gaiden and Prince of Persia. You play Anon (yes, short for Anonymous), a digital agent created by Flynn to make sure the world would be safe. Danger appears, virii attack, and it’s up to Anon to set things right. The story looks like it will run separately from Tron Legacy, but could serve as a prequel or parallel narrative for events in the movie.

Sony PlayStation Move Unboxing
by Will Greenwald

Playstation Move doesn’t hit stores for another week, but that doesn’t mean the coverage can’t begin early. This morning at AggroHQ we received a box containing all the parts necessary to get your groove on with your Move on. Check out the unboxing after the break.

Hands-on with LittleBigPlanet 2
by Chris Gampat

The other day, Will and I were able to get some hands-on time with LittleBigPlanet 2 coming to Playstation 3. Though I’ve admittedly not played the first, the game has always been one that I’ve wanted to try because of just how fun it looks. And the sequel is very, very fun. The extra emphasis on fun comes from the forgiving nature of the game and the ultimate customization and creation of worlds.
