From the Game: New Vegas Poker Set
by Will Greenwald

A few weeks ago, I covered the Fallout: New Vegas Collector’s Edition, a pretty awesome collection of New Vegas feelies piled on top of the already great (yet extremely, painfully buggy) game. It came with a set of poker chips, which would be both fun and useful, except the “set” included a single poker chip from each casino. You can’t exactly have a game of cards with just one chip of every color. The chips are darn cool, though, and I lamented that you can’t put together an entire, poker-worthy set of them.

It turns out that you can, and that the results are both striking and eye-poppingly expensive.

Reader Greg W. showed me his new project: putting together a complete poker set out of many, many Fallout: New Vegas Collector’s Editions. Greg put together 20 CE’s worth of New Vegas poker chips, and has built some impressive-looking stacks of chips.

Greg says he’s spent about $500 pulling together all of these chips from all these collector’s editions. He scours eBay for auctions selling just the chips, so he doesn’t have to shell out the full $70-80 for each set. He’s not done yet, though. Greg says he’d like to have 40-60 sets’ worth of poker chips by the time he finishes collecting them. Our suggestion is to use FedEx or UPS to deliver them; those Wasteland courier companies have been getting accosted by raiders as of late.

From the Game: LittleBigPlanet Sackboy Action Figure… Sacktion Figure!
by Will Greenwald

Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet is easily one of the most adorable game series mascots we’ve seen in the last decade. He’s just a smiling dude made from burlap, buttons, and a zipper. While you can’t pick up Sackboy in all his stuffed, zippered glory yet, you can at least get him in articulated plastic. Meet the Sackboy action figure, from Mezco.

From the Game: Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition RC-XD Spy Car
by Will Greenwald

Once again, Activision has elected for a 2-tiered collector’s edition plan for its biggest game. Like Modern Warfare 2 before it, you can get two different “premium” versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops. There’s the Hardened Edition, where for an extra $20 you can get a neat little medal, a metal game case, and… not really much else. Then there’s the Prestige Edition, where for a whopping $150 you get the Hardened edition plus a replica of the in-game RC-XD killstreak award, a remote controlled car with a spy camera inside it.

Jackpot.

Welcome To The Museum Of Mario!
by Will Greenwald

Club Nintendo is Nintendo’s big fan club/rewards program, giving dedicated gamers copious swag in return for video game registrations and surveys. The majority of said swag is in my apartment, and as part of the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., we’re going to take a look at it. Many of these items can be obtained through Club Nintendo if you rack up enough coins, but two of them are special “Elite Status” awards given out every year when you reach a high enough coin level. Take a tour through the Mario museum after the break.

Site News and From the Game Update
by Will Greenwald

Things have been very busy lately, and I’ve been unable to update and write new content as much as I’d like to. Don’t worry, though. Aggrogate is still here! We’re also looking for writers. Matt, Dee, and myself are looking for any talented, enthusiastic gamers who would like to try their hand at video game journalism. If you’re interested, send me an email.

Now, you might have noticed there’s no From the Game today. That’s because we have something special planned soon. Something involving a certain plumber’s anniversary. Keep an eye here! It’s coming soon.

From the Game: Centipede Wall Decals
by Will Greenwald

Centipedes? On my walls? It’s more likely than you think. Mario graphics aren’t the only reusable wall art you can get from Blik and ThinkGeek. Blik also produces a line of Atari-themed vinyl wall art, including Centipedes, Asteroids, and Pong. Along with the New Super Mario Bros. wall decals, ThinkGeek provided us with a set of Centipede decals.

From the Game: Fallout: New Vegas Collector’s Edition
by Will Greenwald

This week’s From the Game is late because the courier carrying it was attacked by raiders. You know what the Wasteland is like. If you’re not getting shot at by thugs, you’re getting attacked by radioactive ghouls or mutated insects. Or, more likely, I got distracted by the game itself and the task of photographing all the little tchochkes it comes with completely slipped my mind.

The Fallout: New Vegas Collector’s Edition is a gem for fans of video game replicas, like the Fallout 3 Collector’s Edition before it. It comes with plenty of casino-themed extras, including seven poker chips, a metal super-chip, and a pack of cards. Unfortunately, while they look great, they’re effectively useless for actually playing poker.

From the Game: New York Comic-Con Swagfest
by Will Greenwald

New York Comic-Con has come and gone, and with it a deluge of swag. Most of the free stuff came from the game companies’ booths, eager to promote their newest titles to the kind of hardcore geek crowd that goes to these shows (myself included). What was the full extent of the bounty of the booths? Find out after the break.

From the Game: Sonic Colors Preorder Sonic the Hedgehog Hat
by Will Greenwald

Preorder bonuses tend to be pointless. You might get a code for a unique costume, or maybe an extra multiplayer map, or maybe a variant weapon. Sometimes, though, you can get something more. Something tangible. Something awesome in its sheer ridiculous. In the case of preordering Sonic Colors from Gamestop, you get just that.

This is a Sonic the Hedgehog hat. It’s a head-sock covered in giant blue felt spikes. You can wear it on your head and look like a crazy person. It’s freaking awesome.

From The Game: New Super Mario Bros. Giant Wall Decals
by Will Greenwald

Depending on your point of view, my apartment now looks either totally awesome, or like a 12 year old lives in it. This is thanks to the fresh set of New Super Mario Bros. wall decals, manufactured by Blik and provided for review by ThinkGeek. If you ever thought it would be awesome to have a huge video game mural in your room, these vinyl decals are just what you’ve been waiting for.
