Alas, Poor Sony (‘s Online Service Users)
by Davis Emmanuel

I know we’re all pissed about the PSN outage, but at some point you gotta feel bad for Sony. Engadget, via Nikkei.com, has confirmed that Sony has had another breach resulting in the release of 12,700 credit cards numbers, with at least 4300 of them being Japanese and unknown number from various other countries. The exposed data is from 2007, so the number of valid credit cards exposed should be limited, but there is the possibility of other info having been leaked as well. In response, SOE’s services were taken offline yesterday. This comes on the heels of Kaz Harai’s announcement a few days ago that the PSN breach could had caused the loss of 10 million credit card numbers.

So what does all this mean? Well, if you were playing Everquest, Free Realms, or DC Universe Online, you’re SOL. You still can’t play games online on your PS3. You can possibly brute force your way into Netflix, if you’re lucky. You can’t get any PS3 DLC. And if you had a credit card tied to almost any Sony Online services, be it an MMO or PSN, there is a chance it’s been compromised…

Nintendo’s New Console Rumor Round-Up
by Davis Emmanuel

Well, scratch that off your E3 bingo cards; Nintendo is definitely absolutely positively showing off they next gen console at E3 and it will be playable. Dragon Age 2 DLC Out Now, a Week Before the Game Comes Out
by Davis Emmanuel

Consider the bar raised. EA has frequently in the past offered day-one DLC for some there larger game releases, be it downloadable playable characters such as Shale and Zaeed for Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2, respectively, or the very ability to play your game online (see Medal of Honor). It was all part of Project $10, an ongoing effort to combat used game sales by offered ten dollars of free content to anyone who buys a game new via a single-use code in the game packaging. Dragon Age 2 continues the “Thank you for buying this new” trend, with all preorders before January 12th getting an automatic bump up to the Signature Edition.

Apparently, EA’s prerelease madness isn’t over yet, as you can pick up the first piece of Dragon Age 2 DLC, The Exile Prince, now. As in right now. As in a week before you can play the game (assuming you don’t work for someone with a review copy). Yup, EA has released DLC for a game before the game itself. I’d hold off on buying it though, as it may be free with the retail release. (via VG247)

Friday Flick: Mavs Legacy
by Davis Emmanuel

It’s that time again! The final in Tron inspired short films is a bit more corporate, but not less inspired. Mavs Legacy is, to the surprise of no one, a more basketball entry flavored than the previous two. That being said, I want a black and neon inspired Tron mode to be an unlockable in every game from now on, as it would make anything more awesome. Sniping? Great. Sniping in Tron mode? Awesome. Dunking on a fool? Great. Dunking on a fool in Tron mode? Awesome. Eating strawberries? Awesome. Eating strawberries in Tron mode? Head asploded.
