The Last Story: Sakaguchi back at the helm

As many of you know, Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series, is currently working on an project named The Last Story, being developed for the Nintendo Wii. It is tentatively to be released in Japan, at the end of 2010. In a interview he did about a week ago, Sakaguchi explained about his motivations and the restless feeling he had during development of The Last Story.

Giving you some Extra Credits
Daniel Floyd, aka: Youtube's kirithem, has been around for a while now. Like many, I came across him a about two years ago when he, along with James Portnow and Leigh Alexander did that exceptional video piece called Video Games and the Female Audience. Which caught my attention immediately, and from that moment forward, I've have been a fan.
Daniel doesn't do snarky reviews or over-the-top, obnoxious shouting into the camera. Instead, he and his team write well thought-out and poignant treatises regarding the gaming industry.
At the time his videos began to surface on Youtube, our favorite past-time was getting hit from all sides by the news media. Daniel came along, and instead of acting like a bigger idiot, finger pointing and name calling back at the news media. He wrote his commentary directly towards gamers. Taking a basic topic and listing out point by point the facts that we needed to know. Giving us all something to think about and reflect on.
I am very glad to see that Daniel and Team have moved to The Escapist, to join ranks of Yahtzee, MovieBob, and Loading Ready Run. What was original known as Daniel Floyd Presents is now called Extra Credits. Check it out here and see for yourself.
Is Bayonetta coming back? This “Team Little Angels” teaser says maybe
The internets are abuzz about some random Bayonetta news. All because of a single tweet from Producer Yusuke Hashimoto, which reads; “Good morning. We should be able to reveal new news related to Bayo[netta] this week. Look forward to it.”
I would take this news with a grain of salt; unless an account says verified, anyone can claim to be anyone else on twitter. It's always best to wait until there is an official announcement. However, never fear, Bayonetta fans. I'm sure you'll see this sexy angel in a new title soon enough.
Finally, a trailer for The Last Story
Mistwalker Studios has recently release a trailer for their up and coming game, The Last Story. I have to say, for a Nintendo Wii title, this game looks really good. However, the game mechanics sound a bit weird. Instead of the traditional turn-based RPG, Mistwalker opted for real-time combat with use of a cover system. Hmmm, ok. It sounds a bit more like Mass Effect, than a classic JRPG.
It's best to give this unique battle system a chance. Not read too much into it, and wait until the game actually comes out first, before making a judgment call positive or negative. I always like to give a new IP's a chance to surprise me. Hopefully, in this case, it will be a good surprise.
What if video games had a super-easy mode?
From Sonic to Tetris. From Contra to Mario Kart. Super-easy mode gaming was made for those who find easy mode, just a bit difficult. College Humorvideos are always good for a laugh. Now, if only life came with a super-easy mode?
Hulu coming to a console near you
Not only is Hulu finally getting a for-pay, premium version of the service, but for a mere $9.99 you to can have said premium version on either your Xbox360 or your PS3.According to Hulu:
"HuluPlus will give subscribers more shows and more platform support." Users will have the option to view multiple seasons of classic TV shows and current ones in 720p HD. Which is not available using the free browser-based Hulu.com website."
This is great news for PS3 owners, who will see this service later this month. Sadly, for Xbox360 owners, HuluPlus will not be available until around "early 2011".
A Bulletstorm Is Approching

During EA's Presentation, Cliffy Bleszinski came on stage to introduce a brand new IP called, Bulletstorm. This game was developed by People Can Fly, the same group that created the underrated but, very awesome Painkiller. Not much was said about the game, other then the fact that the gameplay looked awesome and the dialog was funny as hell. I am usually not a big fan of FPS, but I am very interested in this one, and will be eagerly awaiting this title in 2011 with anticipation.
Lawsuit over Final Fantasy XIII

Gamer Daniel Wolf has filed a class action lawsuit against Square Enix and Sony of America. In the lawsuit (PDF), which was filed June 2nd, 2010 Mr. Wolf claims the game freezes and even breaks Playstation 3 consoles. He also claims that there has been "severe and widespread damage to his Sony PS3 system since the release of Final Fantasy XIII on March 9th, 2010. The game has caused permanent damage, causing his PS3 to become unresponsive and no longer able to play any other type of media after restarting". Mr. Wolf is asking for $5 million dollars in damages and other financial relief. Both Sony and Square Enix have not commented on this claim, but each have repeatedly blamed the other for this known issue.
InFamous 2: The Announcement
Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have officially announced InFamous 2. The game itself isn't really a surprise, but how much the lead character Cole MacGrath has changed over the last 2 years is. Cole is now sporting a completely different face, a new hair cut, and a beard. Even his voice is different. Perhaps it ties in with revelation at the end of the first game.
I liked Cole the way he was. Yes, he was a bald, vaguely grizzled guy with an extremely deep voice, but that made him unique among the thousands of same-y, average-looking video game protagonists all voiced by Nolan North. Way to blend in with the crowd there, Sucker Punch.
