Rumors: White Knight Chronicles 2 in the US and WKC on PSP

Level-5's White Knight Chronicles is coming to the PSP, according to Andriasang. The tentatively named "Shirokishi Monogatari New Project" appears in leaked images of Famitsu's table-of-contents under the PSP section (Shirokishi Monogatari is the Japanese name for White Knight Chronicles).

In the same issue, Famitsu has released their review of White Knight Chronicles 2, giving it total score of 33/40, a modest improvement over the 29/40 that the first game got. Famitsu states that the game fixes most of the problems of the original including the map display, chat interface, and other interface areas as well. They also note the "tremendous volume of content" which they appreciated. There are clearer differences between weapons, adjusted skills, and the general tempo of combat has increased. The sequel hasn't been formally announce for foreign shores, though an announcement is expected, as the first game ended inconclusively.

Not only is Hulu finally getting a for-pay, premium version of the service, but for a mere $9.99 you to can have said premium version on either your Xbox360 or your PS3.According to Hulu:

This is great news for PS3 owners, who will see this service later this month. Sadly, for Xbox360 owners, HuluPlus will not be available until around "early 2011".

First God of War, now Sly Cooper and Team ICO. What’s next for PS2 remakes?

The God of War Collection has been out for a few months, and now we know the Sly Cooper trilogy is getting its own PS3 makeover. While it's not getting specific branding in the US just yet, in Europe the Sly Cooper Collection will be labeled under the new "PS3 Classics HD" series, which indicates that Sony's planning on bringing over some more PS2 classics.  If that's not enough, PS3 remakes of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus have been confirmed in Europe as the Team ICO Collection, and while it hasn't yet been confirmed for a US release it's all but a sure thing.

That's three classic PS2 game series either already released or confirmed as on the way (at least in Europe). This could be the start of Sony reaching back into its sizable PS2 library and digging around for classics to put out again. If course, if Sony didn't abandon PS2 backwards compatibility on the PS3 within two years of its release, it wouldn't be necessary, but I can't complain too much about a reasonably-priced compilation of games with slightly enhanced graphics.

What's on the way, though? Besides the three series, Sony hasn't made a peep about any other remakes. Still, Europe is getting a "PS3 Classics HD" label, which implies that the company is working on more games. Obviously, these will probably be SCEA-published titles, but anything's possible. What could be on the way? Let's look at some candidates.

Top 10 Biggest Dicks in Video Games

Anyone can be a bad guy in a video game, but it takes a special talent to be a dick. A dick doesn't just take over the world, he takes over the world, keys your car, and sends your mom obscene text messages. They're jerks, schmucks, assholes, bastards... basically, they're just dicks. They don't need a reason and they don't think things through, they just do what they feel like and damn the consequences.

These are the ten biggest dicks in all of video games. Some are villains, some are heroes, some are simply ancillary characters, but they all have one thing in common: they're total dicks.

Cube Warfare: Marshmallow Blasters

Foam darts aren't the only ammunition available in cube warfare. If you're willing to look for more unique things to fling at your coworkers, the folks at the Marshmallow Fun Company might have the weapons for you. They make marshmallow blasters of various shapes and sizes, from mini marshmallow-launching bows and arrows to jumbo marshmallow shotguns.

These guns are significantly more expensive than their foam-launching counterparts, but they pack surprising power into their pricey frames. I put the Bow and Mallow, Marshmallow Crossbow, and Marshmallow Blaster through their paces. Most guns are available in different colors and finishes, including the brand's standard red and blue color scheme, a camouflage finish, and a chromed "executive" finish.

Super Mario Crossover v1.1 is out, now with Ryu!

The updated version of the much-hyped web game Super Mario Crossover is now out, and it adds a long-awaited new member to the game's roster. Now you can play as Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden 2! And yes, it's the Ninja Gaiden 2 Ryu, because you can climb up and down walls, not just stick to them.

Ryu's tricky to control at first because he sticks to every vertical surface. He's great for avoiding most pits, but his short reach and weak shuriken make enemies a bit more difficult to deal with. Once you get the fire flower and expand his sword, though, he becomes a goomba-slaying, block-smashing machine on par with Bill Ryzer. Fully powered up, he can slash four blocks at once and plow through most brick-filled levels.

Give it a play at supermariobroscrossover.com.

How Crackdown 2 Does Demos Right

The Crackdown 2 demo plays like Crackdown, and I'm okay with that. At first, I was very down on Crackdown 2 for numerous reasons. New developers combined with the same setting and general mechanics as the original made the game feel a lot like a phoned-in sequel that was more of the same.

As I've listened to podcasts and read all the content availible online, I've learned more about the game and gone from apathy to guarded interest. Yes, the developers are new. However, Ruffian Games was formed by people from Realtime Worlds, the original creators of Crackdown, who splintered off to specifically to make Crackdown 2. Yes, it's in the same city. However, this "same city" is 10 years after the end of Crackdown, so really they can change anything want. They have added a day and night cycle and added many many more standard enemies so you can level your abilities with far more ease.

What completely allayed my fears was the new demo on Xbox Live. Obviously, I greatly enjoyed it simply because it plays like more Crackdown, but the demo itself is worthy of praise simply for how it's packaged. The demos for XBLA and PSN games track when you unlock Achievements and Trophies and tells you that "You've earned an Achievement/Trophy! To unlock it, buy this game now!" Crackdown 2 does the exact same thing for a full retail game: as you play the demo, you unlock Achievements. If, on July 6th, you decide to buy the game, you'll instantly get the points you've unlocked.

    Friday Flashback: Dragon Spirit

Nearly a decade before Panzer Dragoon came out, Namco released another dragon-based shoot-em-up stormed arcades and home consoles. It's all but forgotten now against the more famous shmups of the time, but it still holds the distinction of letting you fly a freaking dragon.
