Sega Considering Saturn Downloadable Games
Sega offers Genesis and Master System games on Virtual Console. Later this year, XBLA and PSN will get Dreamcast games as well. But what abut the Saturn? Sega's Yosuke Okunari, producer of the Dreamcast re-releases and former producer of the Sega Ages 2500 series of remakes/re-releases on PS2, offers hope in an interview that was posted today at Impress Watch (translated by Andriasang).
Impress Watch asked why Sega skipped from the Genesis to the DreamCast. "When you look globally," responds Okunari, "the Genesis and Dreamcast are well known, but Saturn is unknown. During that period, PlayStation and Nintendo 64 were a success overseas, but to be honest Saturn was not a success. Because of this, we decided on Dreamcast."

In an interview with IGN, Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony's Worldwide Studios, says the company is finally making money on every PS3 sold and there's no rush to bring the price down again.
"This year is the first time that we are able to cover the cost of the PlayStation 3," Yoshida says. "We aren't making huge money from hardware, but we aren't bleeding like we used to."
Seeing as retailers have been low on stock since January, Sony plans on focusing more on increasing production to replenish store stock.

Dee SawyerSaints’ Row 3DS hitting both 3DS and XBLA, will interact with Saints’ Row 3
One of the bigger surprises in the massive line up of titles coming to 3DS at some point was Saints Row 3DS.
As part of a soon-to-be-published in-depth interview, Bilson commented to IndustryGamers, "Nintendo really wants to launch with a very balanced portfolio. They really don’t want it to feel like a kiddie platform. They were very clear: they really wanted Saints Row on it."
He elaborated, "Now, we know how those go sometimes: sure, the first party wants it, but is it really going to work? The interesting thing about the game is we were already making it. We were already making it as our Xbox Live game and in 3D also. It’s designed for 3D already. So the 3DS version is an incremental cost. It’s not a big startup cost. Anything in a transmedia play has a column called marketing in it. It’s also a marketing tool. So how does that game model for us? I believe it will do great, especially if Nintendo is going to go mature and really do a big mature campaign on it. It’s a killer game. It’s got all the weird humor of Saints Row, and also its existence is part of the marketing plan to sell Saints Row 3. Also, all these games have hooks where, if you play it, it unlocks things in Saints Row 3. If you play Saints Row 3, it will unlock things in the 3DS game or the Xbox Live game. I don’t know if I was clear about that, but all of our extension properties all connect and unlock things in each other."
The most interesting part of this news is that not only will Saints Row 3DS be on Live Arcade, but this is the first 360 game to be release in 3D as well.

Siliconera reports that Famitsu has revealed Lord of Arcana, a multiplayer action game for PSP slated for this year. Lord of Arcana is Square-Enix’s take on Monster Hunter. Players create a slayer, a customizable warrior who sets out to fight beasts. He gets quests and drops off items at Kariyoport, which has hunting staples like a guild. This is interesting not only because this is yet another Monster Hunter clone, but by the fact that this is the second game in development from Square-Enix that has Monster Hunter styled gameplay. Early reports have stated that Final Fantasy Agito XIII as a multiplayer action RPG. It is possible that similar to the way the Crisis Core engine was used to make Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Lord of Arcana could be an early run of engine for Agito XIII.
Wednesday’s Trope: More Dakka

Late again, but no less great! When in doubt, use a gun. If that doesn't work, use more gun. Many video games take this idea to heart, giving the player increasingly powerful and elaborate weapons. The most famous example is the BFG from Doom, but games from Ratchet & Clank to Command & Conquer embrace the ideals of More Dakka.
The term comes from Warhammer 40,000, a tabletop strategy game that has seen several video game ports of varying success. "Dakka" is the sound that guns make, and when Orks say they need more dakka, they mean they need more guns. Many more guns. And bigger guns. Many more, bigger guns that go dakka dakka dakka. And no, you can never have enuf dakka.
Examples of More Dakka include:
