Joystiq is reporting that Sony will be announcing the long rumored premium PlayStation Network service at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. The service is rumored to be called PSN+ and will have the following features:
- Access to a rotating selections of PSP Mini and PSone Classic games
- Exclusive in-game DLC
- Discounts in the PSN Store
- First-hour demo access to full retail titles
- The Playstation Protection Plan
- Cross game voice chat
- Cloud based game saves
The company previously stated that cross game voice chat would not be premium version exclusive, and will be available on the free PSN service. The pricing and rollout are unknown, but Joystiq’s source speculates a price of $9.99 a month, making it twice the price of an Xbox Live Gold subscription. As expected, Sony does not “comment on rumors or speculation.”
