I hate to report on rumors, but this is just too potentially awesome to pass up. According to Planetxbox360.com, Marvel Versus Capcom 3 is going to be announced very soon, and will actually be playable at E3 2010 in June. MvC3 was supposedly showcased at this year’s Captivate event in Hawaii, but outside of Planetxbox360 there haven’t been any corroborating reports.

Joystiq notes that it would be a prudent idea for Capcom, considering that MvC2 consistently sells well on XBLA and PSN. The success of Street Fighter 4 and Capcom Versus Tatsunoko and the release of Super Street Fighter 4 (along with Capcom’s claim that SSF4 will be the last SF4 game, and won’t have any more iterations) seem to show that Capcom is still taking the tournament fighter genre seriously.

Also according to PXB360, Capcom is working on Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. The first Bionic Commando Rearmed was an awesome remake, and its release basically made up for the craptastic full Bionic Commando game they released around the same time. Currently, the rumors are all that’s out there. Marvel Versus Capcom 3 and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. No specific dates, pricing, roster, or anything. The games aren’t even officially confirmed yet. Still, even the rumor inspired me to make this little spin on Marvel’s “I’m an Avenger” ads. I’m still waiting to hear back from Capcom for confirmation or denial, so keep an eye here for updates.

All I can say is that if MvC3 is real… they better put Deadpool in.
